  • Civil servant retires after 30 years of dedicated service to families

    Ann Lukens is a quilter. She pieces assorted fabrics of different shapes, colors and sizes into beautiful works of art. She created a 20th anniversary quilt representing all 18 Air Combat Command Family Support Centers that was placed on permanent display at Langley Air Force Base, Va. in 2001. It’s this same attention to detail, commitment and ability to see the bigger picture that Ann used to build the first Family Support Center, now known as the [Airmen and Family Readiness Center, followed by the School Liaison Program] at Moody AFB, piecing together programs benefitting military families. On Aug. 31, Lukens retired after faithfully serving Moody’s community and the Air Force. Retired United States Air Force Brig. Gen. Kenneth Todorov, presided at a ceremony honoring her 30 years of service.
  • Rescue aircrew refresh flight skills, stay current

    Eight Team Moody members from the 23d Wing, 347th Rescue Group and 23d Medical Group flew in an HC-130J Combat King II during pilot proficiency training. The training allowed aircrew members to practice standard and emergency procedures during flight. Pilots tested the HC-130J’s capabilities to perform a multitude of flying techniques that aid search and rescue efforts, air refueling and airdrop operations. The HC-130J’s mission is to rapidly deploy and execute combatant commander directed operations.
  • 347th OSS Airmen reinforce skills through TCCC

    Two independent duty medical technicians from the 347th Operations Support Squadron at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., completed a tactical combat casualty care (TCCC) course, Sept. 21-22, here. U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jose Oregon and Senior Airman Michael Triana learned advanced instructor techniques and brushed up on their own medical skills during the two-day course and plan to start a similar training program at Moody for the battlefield Airmen in the 347th Rescue Group.
  • Aircrews 'test the waters' during SERE training

Travis Siegwart, 347th Operations Support Squadron NCO in charge of survival, evasion, resistance, and escape training, teaches aircrew members hoisting operating procedures during water survival training, Sept. 15, 2016, at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. Students participated in water survival training to learn techniques that will aid them if they become isolated in open water in the event of ejecting from the aircraft.
