JSTARS crew critical to safe recovery at Kadena Air Base
A U.S. Air Force flight crew from the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), Georgia Air National Guard, and the 461st ACW, fly a night mission aboard an E-8C Joint STARS, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., July 13, 2017. Team JSTARS, consisting of the 116th ACW, active-duty 461st ACW and Army JSTARS, provides joint airborne command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support over land and water to combatant commanders around the globe. Staff Sgt. Noah Hohmann, an F-35A Lightning II maintainer with the 4th Fighter Generation Squadron, receives the first sortie launched from the Savannah Air National Guard Base, to Hunter Army Airfieild during Agile Flag 23-1. The exercise’s scenarios force wings to operate from multiple locations in a contested environment using agile combat employment. This was the first exercise where the 388th Fighter Wing deployed using the multi-capable Airman construct. The exercise tests and certifies Air Combat Command’s lead wings. It took place over approximately nine days at various locations in the southeast region of the United States.
