SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Various units from around the 9th Air Force area of responsibility held several events at their respective bases to educate and raise awareness of fire safety and prevention during this year’s Fire Prevention Week Oct. 8 through 14.
The theme for 2017 centered around, “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than 2,000 deaths were caused by around 365,500 home fires in 2015.
