Airmen from the 71st Rescue Squadron Aircraft Maintenance Unit prepared and launched an HC-130J Combat King II, Aug. 17.

Maintainers perform various tasks prior to take-off such as pre-flight inspections, removing plugs and covers, repairing any problems found during crew pre-flight checks and marshalling the aircraft.

“Without these Airmen performing these tasks, the aircraft wouldn’t be able to fly,” said Master Sgt. Alan Cherry, 71st AMU flightline expeditor. “They not only make sure the aircraft can perform the mission, they ensure the safety of every crewmember on the flight.”
