Carlin Leslie 633rd Air Base Wing Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Members from the 1st Fighter Wing and the Air National Guard’s 192nd Fighter Wing from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, are currently participating in exercise Red Flag 17-4. The Total Force Integration effort allowed Airmen from the 94th Fighter Squadron, 1st Maintenance Squadron, 1st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 192nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron to operate as if they were in a deployed location. The exercise is vital for the advancement of Raptor tactics, as well as preparing not only the pilots but also the maintenance groups to bring the fight to the enemy. The majority of the exercise is conducted over 2.9 million acres of land and in 5,000 square miles of civilian-restricted airspace that makes up Nevada Test and Training Range. The mission of the Red Flag exercise overall is to maximize the combat readiness and survivability of participants by providing a realistic training environment and a pre-flight and post-flight training forum that encourages a free exchange of ideas.
